Following on from our long running Sportsman and Pro bracket racing classes we are now running a new Heads Up class. You've asked for it, we've made it happen!
You need a VAG Group door car - i.e manufactured by VW, Audi, Seat or Skoda. If you have something else that you think qualifies then get in touch.
Volkswagen floor pan buggies and kit cars are eligible.
Your car needs to be powered by a VAG Group engine or approved aftermarket derivative power plant, such as an Autocraft or Pauter engine.
Your car needs to run a proven quarter mile time of 11.99 seconds or quicker.
Tube frame funny cars and rails are not eligible.
If you are unsure about the eligibility of your car you can contact us to discuss.
There's a payment button over in the VWDRC Shop.
The closing date for each event is two weeks before. The entry fee is £85; this will include two tickets and track time on the Sunday. (Additional track time on the Saturday can be purchased at the track on the day.)
You will also need a VWDRC Membership for the year if you don't have one already, which costs £25. This gives you access to the club forums, a race number, membership card and stickers.
All members will be required to adhere to the rules and safety requirements of the track.
The starting system will be the three-amber "Pro Start" tree. All amber lights are activated simultaneously with a four-tenths of a second delay to green.
The ladder is based on a sportsman configuration. For example, on an eight car field car 1 runs against car 5, not car 1 vs car 8 as with a pro-ladder.
Roll cages are strongly recommended for all vehicles, however they are not compulsory. If you want to install a cage please consult a specialist or the National Drag Racing rulebook to ensure it is fitted safely and correctly.
It is recommended that there is a parachute system for all vehicles travelling faster than 150mph.
Fluid containment devices are highly recommended.
Any vehicle not achieving a valid 11.99 second pass or faster during qualifying will not be included in eliminations.
If you would like any more information please contact us via email: info@vwdrc.com or via social media.
Qualifying points are awarded to all racers who make a qualifying run.
For a 16 car field :
Additional points are earned during the qualifying sessions by running one of the quickest three runs of the session.
Eliminations points - based on a 16 car field, each entrant will receive 20 points for each round with 20 bonus points for the winner.
A race number will be assigned to you when you take out your VWDRC membership and you will receive a set of stickers.
